“Let’s get something straight…I’m not.” – Unknown

Last night I came out as bisexual to all my friends and family on Facebook. It was an easy decision, but I was still nervous as anyone else would be.

It was an easy decision for me because I had already come out to the people I care most about. They support me and that’s all I care about.

It was an easy decision because I honestly really don’t care what people think of me. I am proud of who I am. I’m here to live my life; not to please anyone. I don’t care if they love me or hate me after this.

Why tell everyone now? Well I’ve been meaning to for a while. So I thought why not during pride week (in my region)? I want to show my pride this week. This week is going to be really important for me because it’s the first time I’ll be able to celebrate my sexuality with the LGBT community.

I actually just discovered this a year ago. It’s been a crazy ride.

I started to take notice that I had crushes on just as many girl celebrities as boy celebrities. Instead of calling celebrity girls pretty, I called them hot. I started to fantasize more about making out with girl celebrities than boy celebrities. My celebrity crushes? Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Kate Upton, Harry Styles…and in that order.

Up until a few months ago, I really didn’t label myself though. I just saw myself as capable of loving anyone. Whatever happens, happens. But that became confusing and I started to feel a little lost. I wanted to figure out if I found “normal” girls to be attractive instead of just celebrities before I actually labelled myself. So I started to pay more attention.

Once I liked a non-celebrity girl, I started to really consider myself as bisexual. It’s been a bit of a struggle, but the support of my friends and the counsellors at school is amazing. I will be forever grateful.

Like I said, I really don’t care if you are against this in any way. You have a right to your opinion. Just like I have the right to my sexuality and freedom of speech.

I’m beautiful in my way
‘Cause God makes no mistakes
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born this way
Don’t hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you’re set
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born this way
